The Eider Sanction

Lots of eider ducks jostling for love at blyth docks and lots of nice gulls looking for a fish dinner . On to the beach (little likes a run in the sea edge) goldfinch,twite and linnet were spotted from south beach to the sluice.

Dissapointed

A short break from work and we headed south of the tyne to the new RSPB reserve at saltholme . A real disappointment as the area is not finished and they do not really want dog owners to visit as the informed dog area which you cannot reach was on observation a thick muddy fenced off square with a poo bin in the middle. Could not really find are way around and could have done with the loo are selves but did not find them and as the staff desk was busy we decided to leave and go to Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park which we had spotted on the way just before the RSPB reserve.
Brilliant, sign says dogs welcome poo bins around plenty of walks and saw more birds than saltholme. Definitely worth another visit in warmer weather. On to the beach at seaton carew for a quick walk along the sand a bag of chips then home to get warmed up. No pics not like me at all.

A visit to Wheatslde country park, some good sightings 6 swans flying overhead on the south side of the hill bullfinch,greenfinch,goldfinch,mistle thrush,fieldfare,stonechat, and a stoat with a rabbit dinner.

A walk over the hill. To the country park the list goes coal tit/robin/blue tit/great tit/wrens/treecreepers/lots of brown jobs/on the big lake tuftys/coots/moorhens/pochard/wigeon/teal/mallard/black headed /black backed/herring gulls/on the small lake tuftys/coots/moorhens/teal/swans/cygnets/and in the trees a beautiful kestrel.

A cold and windy walk around killingworth big lake where a flock of goosanders were enjoying a bit of a rest. I counted at least 25 thats the most I've seen here.

Went to the country barn for xmass meat today so a call in at cresswell hide was in order but not much to see mute swan,golden eye,curlew, tuftie, gooseander, grebe.
